Sionnach
Landmark:
Famous dead resident - a serial killer - a ghost tour of everywhere where a victim was discovered. The Bloody Baron was infamous, and was never caught. All the victims had the monk cut scalped out of the head, even though the deaths looks accidental.
Theories: The Bloody Baron was an elf, and was struck by wanderlust and that was why the killings stopped. Another is that he was caught, and given the option of killing for the city. Did the Beer Barons get revenge? Is he pickled in some beer barrel somewhere, adding flavour to their most expensive flavour?
Resident:
A Vet, the doctor for the large, but hidden monsters hiding in the city. Officially works for the Beer Barons, tending to their horses, birds and guard dogs. A Raksasha themselves name * Nakunt*.
Landmark:
In the backroom of the bookstore, Binder's Fee, the local (and only) charter of The Auditors. This is a group of people determined (but not very good) and discovering and exposing monsters in the city. Next to Nakunt's Vets office - they think that the vet is a very good person.
Residents
One of the Auditors is a printer. Had someone he cared about go missing during the festival. Funds the whole operation.
Residents
A child of werewolves (recessive genes) who doesn't know and is after joining Auditors. Aged 16 and named Micheal Jay Sionnach, with a full beard.
Neighbourhood
Hangman's Walk. The road leading up to the old Monastery, the main entrance to the origin city. Once people were hung by the neck along every building on the walk as a warning to everyone entering.
Landmark
The Old Storehouse. Originally a keg storeroom, that has been turned into a venue. Known as a nightclub, the tables and chairs are made out of old kegs. An illegal gambling venue is hidden behind a giant keg inside.
Resident
Famous travelling bard, from a small neighbourhood in the city. Comes home often to play. A folk hero, anti-establishment (down-low about it). Female, brass dragonborn named Drakora.
Resident
A local drunk, farrier for the Beer Barons. Work hard, play hard. Purple Tiefling, with the end of his tail cut off. Everytime anyone asks he tells them a different story. He doesn't remember the truth because he was drunk. A horse he was annoying bit it off. A happy, overly huggy drunk. His name is Tudor Glint.
Resident/ Landmark
Looking much like Santa, except for his monk hair-cut, always jolly-looking. During events, people dress up and have masks of Brother Bliss. His race is somewhat ambiguous.
Residents/ Neighbourhoods
The towns around the city, who see themselves as the true preferers of the craft of beer making, look at everyone else as outsiders, not the originals. Quite insular communities. Generational farming and wealth. The leaders of these families are incredibly powerful. (Think Union leaders)
Landmark
This is a monument to winning the war. Made of the scrap of gnomish devices that were melted down and destroyed. A symbol of strength and power, it shows a group of Empire of soldiers raising a beer in toast and is a source of pride.
Neighbourhood
The college of maybe 50-60 rooms. Owned by the government, subsided by nobles, focused on divine magic with a subset for bardic schools. The primary school is in the old monastery, and is open for the children of the public while anything past that is in another building. Entrance into the older schools is not paid, but requires a sponsorship. The Quad Summit (named after a four aspect god with four faces) is the only hill in the city. It has the primary school, the theology branch, bardic and Governance.
Resident
Dog breeder and trainer for the Beer Barons. The city had one famous breed of dog, Irish Wolfhounds. Most of them come from this woman who is a halfling. Think Edna le Mode. Commands by presence alone and is shorter than all of her dogs. Vera Mode.
Neighbour
The Factories. Spread their smell around the city and the river going through the city. Ran by the Beer Barons, polluting the water downstream. A large percentage of the city work in or around these buildings.
Resident
Green dragon in human form, mayor. Constantly walking around in green suits, (real subtle dude).
Emerald green eyes, slightly glow in the dark (think cats at night), very boastful about his job. Sees the city, all its wealth and its people as his hoard. Mr Orzo. Very quick to snap at outside interference or insult.
Resident
Penelope Shrew, plain-looking human, works as a florist, is a member of the Barter Boys. Think stone masons. A fraternity that sees themselves as protectors of commerce of the city. Not above low actions for 'the greater good'. Mayor and Beer Barons know about and tolerate them. She works as a point of contact and information gatherer for the group.
Event
Brother Bliss's Bacchanalia.
- Known as Bachfest. Month Long Beer Festival, for Brother Bliss. The legend is that it was to celebrate the first time he succeeded in brewing. The day is contested, so it lasts all month.
- Trying to say the full name ten times fast is a drinking game during the festival.
- Highland games in the surrounding towns. Instead of throwing logs, they throw haybales. The outer towns take the whole festival more serious and commit to the rituals. They will attempt to catch a person to bring back, dress them up as a monster, release and hunt them.
- After paying workers all season, the festival bookends their work and tries to get all their money back.
- Barrell roll racing down the hill of Quad's summit. They roll into the river after spending the entire year decorating and readying their vassal.
- Barrell boats (a rowing race. Barrell's halved)
- Individual brewing tasting for outsiders looking for a job. The Vet and Dog Trainer.
- Serial killer is only active during the beerfest.
- Plays about the murders, and about monsters of old (during which monsters can secretly be themselves).
- The Parade of horribles, monsters walks as themselves during this masquerade walk from the monastery to the gates of the old city through Hangman's walk (decorated with pinatas made by the primary school) and ends at The Storehouse. Meant to be in celebration of the old lengend about the monks driving monsters out of the city.
- People disappear a lot during the festival. Most people assume they fell in the river, or were picked up by the navy (who press gang young men) (very carefully because of the mayor), or left.
- The Auditors go around with their little pamphlets (full of misinformation).
- Brother Bliss's Costume contest.
- Drakora always preforms on the first day.
- Mayor makes a speech to begin and the end at the monument.
- Factories close for a few days, to give the workers off.
- The Barter Boys are hyper vigilant during the festivals (for example, hiding dead bodies)
